The UN Spokesperson Rida Diab expressed concern and worry over the latest exchanges between the U.S. and Iran on May 28, according to Jin10. The statement came as reports suggested the two countries had reached a 60-day memorandum of understanding. The UN encouraged both nations to respect ceasefire agreements and reaffirmed its call for maintaining a free and unimpeded passage through the Strait of Hormuz. UN Secretary-General António Guterres previously warned that continued disruption of transit in the strait would have serious consequences for the global economy.
