U.S. Central Command Launches Additional Airstrikes Against Iran Today Over Strait of Hormuz Threats

According to U.S. Central Command statement today, July 8, the command launched additional airstrikes against Iran to counter threats to freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. The command stated on X that the military actions responded to recent attacks on merchant vessels and civilian crews operating in international waters. Iranian semi-official news agency Farsnews reported that air defense systems in Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island engaged hostile targets. President Trump warned earlier that the U.S. might strongly attack Iran and said potential targets could include power plants, bridges, and desalination facilities, while noting the possibility of resuming maritime blockades.
