U.S. Congress Reaches Housing Bill Agreement, Extends CBDC Development Ban Until 2030

According to Bloomberg, the U.S. Congress reached an agreement on a comprehensive housing bill on Tuesday (June 17), which extends a ban on the Federal Reserve developing a central bank digital currency (CBDC) until 2030. The agreement also includes measures to restrict institutional investors from purchasing single-family homes, eliminates a controversial requirement for investors to divest rental properties within seven years, and contains banking deregulation provisions. The Senate is expected to pass the bill this week, with the House sending it to the President for signature next week.
