US Deploys Additional F-16 and F-35 Fighter Jets to Middle East Amid Iran Tensions

According to CNN, the United States is deploying additional F-16 and F-35 fighter jets from European bases to the Middle East on July 20, as tensions with Iran continue to escalate. The deployment also includes more air refueling aircraft. The additional military assets will give President Trump more options to consider military responses, including potentially targeting Iran's key oil export hub of Kharg Island or bombing Iranian nuclear facilities at Mount Damavand, according to a U.S. official. Trump received a briefing on escalation plans at the Situation Room last week.
