U.S. Military Plans to Deploy Tomahawk and HIMARS Systems in Japan from June to September, Kyodo News Reports

According to Japan's Kyodo News on May 20, the U.S. military plans to deploy Tomahawk cruise missiles and High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) at Kanoya Air Base in Kagoshima Prefecture from June to September 2026. The systems will support two joint exercises between the Japan Self-Defense Forces and the U.S. military: the "Brave Shield" exercise scheduled for late June to early July, and the "Eastern Shield" exercise in September.
