U.S. Small Business Confidence Index Rises to 97.4 in June, Up 2.1 Points

According to the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the U.S. small business optimism index climbed to 97.4 in June, a 2.1-point increase from May, marking the highest level in 19 months and approaching the 52-year average of 98.

NFIB Chief Economist Bill Dunkelberger noted that while fuel cost declines and improved business expectations provide encouragement, small business owners remain cautious about hiring and capital expenditure due to elevated interest rates and modest economic growth.
