According to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) designated multiple cryptocurrency wallets tied to Iran on Tuesday, freezing over $130 million linked to the Central Bank of Iran. The action was part of efforts to disrupt Iran's illicit financial activities and abuse of digital assets.

Tether subsequently froze four Tron wallets holding $131 million in USDT tied to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Central Bank, according to onchain analyst Specter. Most funds had been withdrawn from payment service provider DTC Pay and cryptocurrency exchange Bitso.
