According to ZachXBT’s on-chain investigation, the U.S. Department of Justice unsealed an indictment on May 11 against Trenton Johnson for a $13 million Bitcoin theft, with suspected co-conspirator Dritan Kapllani Jr. implicated in a broader $19 million crypto theft and money laundering scheme targeting cryptocurrency users. Johnson faces up to 40 years in prison.
ZachXBT’s tracking revealed that $5.3 million from the 185 BTC theft flowed to Dritan’s Exodus wallet; approximately $1.6 million of that amount was spent or laundered within six weeks. Dritan, now 18, has been linked to multiple social engineering theft cases totaling over $5.85 million since 2025.
