According to Bloomberg, Visa unveiled a stablecoin platform yesterday for banks and fintechs to issue, transfer, and manage stablecoins across blockchains on a single system. The platform will initially support Open USD, issued by Open Standard, an industry consortium for stablecoin infrastructure. Visa's stablecoin settlement pilot now supports nine blockchains through a common settlement layer, including Avalanche, Ethereum, Solana, and Stellar. The launch builds on the company's USDC work that began in 2021 and later expanded to more than 130 programs in over 50 countries.
