Wanchain Cardano Bridge Exploit Drains 515M NIGHT Tokens, ~$9M Lost on July 21

NIGHT-24.19%
According to onchain analysis, a suspected exploit on Wanchain's Cardano bridge removed approximately 515 million NIGHT tokens from the bridge lock address on July 21, 2026, which held native NIGHT as collateral for wrapped NIGHT on BNB Chain. The affected balance had a notional value of roughly $9 million at the time. Following the incident, NIGHT fell approximately one-third within 24 hours, trading as low as $0.0152 from near $0.0175, as large quantities were sold through Cardano-based decentralized exchanges. The Midnight Foundation acknowledged the reports and said an investigation was underway, noting that the incident affected bridged NIGHT and appeared isolated from the Midnight network itself. Neither Wanchain nor Midnight had published a complete forensic report at the time of reporting, and the precise attack method and total recoverable amount remain unconfirmed.
