According to 36Kr, Xiaomi recently restructured its Xiao Ai Assistant team, decoupling its technical architecture into three layers: a foundation large language model layer led by Luofu Li's MiMo team; a cloud engineering layer under Luan Jian's team providing standardized interfaces; and end-device product development rights distributed directly to smartphone and automotive operating system teams. Wang Gang, the team's long-time leader, was reassigned to the robotics business.
The restructuring addresses demand from high-compute terminals like smartphones and vehicles. Previously, all Xiaomi devices relied on standardized cloud-based capabilities, limiting high-compute devices' potential. The new architecture enables smartphone and automotive OS teams to develop customized AI agent features based on local computing power.
