Zcash to Launch Ironwood Upgrade in Late July 2026 With Turnstile Verification Mechanism

ZEC9.86%

According to Zcash Open Development Lab, the ecosystem will launch the Ironwood upgrade in late July 2026, introducing a new shielded pool with a Turnstile mechanism to verify all ZEC supply transfers from Orchard. The upgrade will allow anyone to audit Zcash's circulating supply, enhancing protocol security and transparency.

The existing Orchard pool will close to new deposits and internal transactions post-upgrade, with funds migrating to Ironwood via the Turnstile mechanism. Wallet providers supporting Orchard will offer one-click migration, and users can continue using their existing Orchard addresses. ZODL also noted that a recently discovered Orchard integrity vulnerability was fixed during ongoing security research, with no evidence of exploitation or impact on ZEC total supply.
