Zonda Exchange Discloses 4,500 BTC Cold Wallet as Private Keys Remain Untransferred

Gate News message, April 16 — Zonda, a Polish cryptocurrency exchange, disclosed a cold wallet holding approximately 4,503 BTC (worth around $334 million) in a video statement by CEO Przemysław Kral. The private keys for the wallet were never transferred during the company's management succession, as they were supposed to be handed over by founder and former CEO Sylwester Suszek, who has been missing since March 2022.

The disclosure comes amid a withdrawal crisis triggered by analysis from blockchain platform Recoveris, which reported a significant decline in Zonda's hot wallet balance, suggesting potential insolvency. On April 6 and in the hours following, the exchange received over 25,000 withdrawal requests—a dramatic spike compared to the typical 100,000 requests Zonda processes annually.

Kral denied allegations of fund misappropriation, stating that Suszek's disappearance itself proves his innocence. He pledged to fulfill the company's obligations to customers and announced plans to pursue legal action against those making false claims.
