The Hyperliquid team pointed out that this new contract design can support prediction markets and options-style derivatives, which is the long-awaited feature upgrade from the community. Hyperliquid officially stated on social platform X: "There is already a large user demand in these two areas, and we believe developers can create even more innovative applications based on this foundation. The so-called ‘Outcome Contracts’ are fully collateralized derivatives that settle within a preset price range once certain conditions are met. Unlike perpetual contracts and high-leverage derivatives, ‘Outcome Contracts’ will introduce ‘expiration dates’ and ‘non-linear return’ mechanisms into the Hyperliquid ecosystem. These types of trades do not require margin maintenance and pose no risk of liquidation or forced clearing. According to the plan, ‘Outcome Contracts’ will be launched on the testnet first. Once the technical development is complete, they will be deployed to the mainnet. Initially, a selected group of markets will go live, and whether to open it up as a permissionless, freely listed mechanism will be evaluated based on user feedback and market response.
