Odaily Planet Daily reports that the Spanish Red Cross has launched a blockchain aid distribution system called RedChain. The system is technically supported by BLOOCK and Billions Network, aiming to manage the entire aid process from donation to distribution digitally. RedChain replaces paper vouchers and prepaid cards with ERC-20 tokens on the Ethereum blockchain. Beneficiaries can use QR codes to make payments at partner merchants via mobile wallets. The beneficiaries’ personal information and case records are stored in the Spanish Red Cross’s off-chain system. The public blockchain is only used to verify transaction hashes, timestamps, and integrity proofs, ensuring transparency of aid funds while protecting beneficiaries’ privacy.
