PANews February 4th News, according to Hong Kong 01, Hong Kong police disclosed that over the past three weeks, they launched a city-wide law enforcement operation codenamed “Mou Gong” targeting scams, cybercrimes, money laundering, and other offenses. A total of 682 people were arrested for conspiracy to commit fraud, obtaining property through deception, and money laundering, involving 580 cases of scams and technology crimes with a total amount of HKD 620 million. Among these, during an operation codenamed “Zhan Wang” by the Hong Kong Police Cybersecurity and Technology Crime Bureau, a local online romance scam group was dismantled, along with a group involved in laundering money through virtual currencies. Over the past 16 months, this group defrauded 314 victims for a total of HKD 44 million, with an average of about HKD 150,000 per case.
