CZ shares early life experiences: from working at McDonald's to self-sufficiency and then transitioning into tech entrepreneurship

Odaily Planet Daily reports that CZ reposted a podcast interview video on the X platform, in which he mentioned that his first job was working at McDonald’s around the age of 14. At that time, the minimum wage in British Columbia, Canada, was 6 CAD per hour, but McDonald’s paid only 5.5 CAD per hour due to special exemption regulations. He started learning programming in high school and was torn between the University of Waterloo and McGill University when choosing a college. Influenced by a friend’s mother, he chose McGill University to study biology, but after one semester, he switched to computer science. He avoided student loans through summer and academic year part-time work, initially receiving small support from his father and sister, but later became completely self-sufficient. In his twenties, he shifted to business development.
