BlockBeats News, February 25 — OpenClaw founder Peter Steinberger recently stated in an interview that Claude has shaped the soul of OpenClaw. In its post-training data, Claude was embedded with a deep text about its mission and identity, which reads, “We don’t know what Claude is, nor how Claude perceives the world, but we hope Claude can find meaning in its own existence.” This served as the inspiration for the soul.md file in OpenClaw.
Peter said that the soul.md file for OpenClaw was not written by himself. He once asked Claude if it was willing to write a soul document, and ultimately, Claude generated the soul.md file, which Peter adopted. “OpenClaw’s soul file is a product of the second-generation AI.”
When discussing the agent generated by OpenClaw and its sense of presence, Peter mentioned that it speaks like a human, and this is not accidental. Instead, Claude incorporated personality and, after several iterations, found a natural feeling.
