Gate News, March 13 — A senior executive at a certain CEX denied allegations of obstructing tax exemption policies for small Bitcoin transactions. Previously, Bitcoin advocates speculated on social media that the exchange told lawmakers that Bitcoin is not widely used as a medium of exchange, so it should not be taxed. The exchange’s CEO called the allegations “completely false” and stated that they have been lobbying for tax exemption on small Bitcoin transactions and will continue to do so. The company’s Chief Legal Officer and Chief Policy Officer also reiterated that they have “never lobbied against Bitcoin.” Currently, U.S. lawmakers are considering tax exemptions for stablecoins pegged to the US dollar, but Bitcoin has not been included in the draft of the Cryptocurrency Market Structure Act (also known as the CLARITY Act).
