AI model evaluation platform Yupp.ai announces it is shutting down, having previously raised $33.0 million in funding led by a16z

Gate News, April 2, AI model evaluation platform Yupp.ai CEO Pankaj Gupta announced that Yupp.ai will shut down effective immediately. The website will remain accessible for the next 15 days; during this period, users can download their chat data. Existing users will be unable to create new conversations starting today, and new users will also be unable to register. Yupp.ai launched in June 2025. It previously raised a $33 million seed round led by a16z, positioning itself as a two-sided marketplace for AI model evaluation, achieving effective AI model assessment through diverse usage by a large user base in real-world scenarios. Pankaj Gupta said the reason for the shutdown is that AI model capabilities have continued to improve rapidly over the past year, and the way users use AI has also been evolving; a simple chatbot can no longer meet users’ needs. He added that, based on past startup experience, choosing to recognize problems sooner rather than continuing along a path with an unclear future is a more prudent decision. The company will return the remaining funds to its investors.
