Gate News, April 8, CZ (Changpeng Zhao) recalled in a new book that while moving to use BTC-e to buy Bitcoin after Mt. Gox collapsed, he once mistakenly transferred 46 BTC to the wrong address due to an operational error, resulting in the permanent loss of the assets. CZ said that at the time, during a top-up, he mistakenly selected the coin type’s address, sending the Bitcoin to an address on another chain; after the transaction was confirmed, it could no longer be reversed, and the asset was worth about $30k at the time. He noted that this experience made him deeply appreciate another side of decentralized systems: once a blockchain transaction happens, it is irreversible, and there is no centralized institution that can provide a tracing or compensation mechanism.
