Security Heightened in Islamabad as U.S. Personnel Arrive at Pakistan Airbase

Gate News message, April 19 — Security measures were intensified in Islamabad today as three aircraft carrying U.S. personnel landed at Nur Khan Airbase. Shops along the road connecting Islamabad to the airbase have closed, and traffic in certain areas has been restricted.

Security forces have been deployed around several major hotels in the city. The Serena Hotel, where previous U.S.-Pakistan negotiations took place, and the nearby Marriott Hotel have both notified guests to vacate their rooms.
