Foresight News reports that Vitalik Buterin posted on Farcaster stating, "I believe the Ethereum ecosystem needs to adopt a more open and bold mindset towards many things, especially at the application layer and how we position ourselves in the world. We should not compromise on core features: censorship resistance, open source, privacy, and security (CROPS). We should not hold an ‘open attitude’ that causes confidence in the security features of L1 to diminish after a year. We should not question whether ‘light clients can truly achieve trustless verification of blockchain integrity.’ However, at the application layer and in Ethereum’s external interfaces, we should be brave enough to fundamentally rethink various concepts and break out of our comfort zone. This includes technical considerations, such as ‘if artificial intelligence means wallets as browser extensions and mobile extensions will disappear within a year, how should we respond?’

For too long, Ethereum’s algorithmic logic has been: the existing ecosystem is already there, so how can we logically improve it? Now, our approach should shift to: we have this stunning and increasingly excellent L1 layer, and we have a growing set of tools. Based on current understanding, what is the most valuable direction for development right now? Suppose the current Ethereum chain is completely unused, and you are the pioneer designing or building applications—see what would emerge. Even if you are developing existing applications, please consider this. This is precisely the way for Ethereum to regain strong growth."
