U.S. media: Meta will cut about 600 jobs in its artificial intelligence department.

On October 22, Jin10 Data reported that Meta Platforms (META.O) is cutting about 600 positions in its “Super Intelligence Lab” artificial intelligence (AI) department, which originally had thousands of positions. The layoffs will affect the company's Facebook Artificial Intelligence Research (FAIR) department, product-related AI teams, and AI infrastructure teams, while the newly established TBD Lab will remain unaffected, according to the report citing an internal memo. The report cited Meta's Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang as saying that reducing team members will help streamline the decision-making process and enhance the responsibility, scope of functions, and impact of each position.
