PANews, December 4—Vitalik Buterin stated that Ethereum will continue to improve security and scalability through “hard invariants.” He reviewed the 2021 EIP-2929/3529, which increased SLOAD costs and weakened refunds; Dencun in 2024, which weakened SELFDESTRUCT; and the plan for 2025 to set a per-transaction gas limit of 16,777,216, restricting the executable size per transaction or per block, reducing DoS risks, and simplifying client implementation. He also suggested setting future caps on code byte access, ZK-EVM prover cycles, and memory pricing.
