On July 31st, Jinshi Data reported that after Hamas leader Haniyah was assassinated, a red ‘revenge flag’ was raised at the Jamekaran Mosque in the city of Qom, northwest Iran. In the Shiite tradition, the red flag symbolizes unjust bloodshed and calls for revenge for the murdered. The last time Iran raised such a red flag was after the Kerman terrorist attack explosion in January 2024, when Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani was buried there. Going back further, it was after Soleimani was assassinated in January 2020.
