Syrian rebels say they have begun to surround Damascus.

On December 7th, according to the Israeli Times, Syrian anti-government forces said that after taking control of a town near Damascus, they began to surround the government-controlled Damascus. At the same time, the Syrian Ministry of Defense denied that the government army had fled from positions near the capital. Rebel commander Gani said: ‘Our troops have entered the final stage of surrounding the capital Damascus.’
