Wu Wei and Nothingness - Cryptocurrency Web3.0 Digital Currency Exchange Platform

Taoism has a principle called Wu Wei,

Many people see this term and think it means literally,

That is, doing nothing,

Just lying flat,

But actually, that’s not the case,

Because there’s another word behind it,

Called Wu Bu Wei.

To explain this concept,

I have a good analogy,

Let’s shift our perspective to ancient times,

When people had nothing,

Knew nothing,

Often chased by fierce beasts,

Starving one day, full the next.

If these people only practiced Wu Wei,

I don’t think humanity would have developed into what it is today,

So why were humans able to become different from other animals and dominate the Earth? The answer lies in: Wu Bu Wei.

Humans are at a disadvantage in nature,

Anyone who has watched the animal kingdom knows,

We can’t outrun a cheetah,

We can’t match the strength of a brown bear,

We can’t beat an alligator in bite force,

Even a hyena can chase a person around.

So why did humans later turn this victimized fate around,

And succeed in turning the tide?

Because humans learned to use tools,

That is, leverage,

Using the power of tools to counterbalance,

I can’t fight fierce beasts,

But a composite bow can directly kill one.

Humans also learned cooperation,

I can’t take down a tiger alone,

But a group of spear-wielding people,

Can easily bring it down.

See,

What does Wu Bu Wei mean?

I don’t compare my weaknesses to your strengths,

But maximize my strengths to outweigh your weaknesses,

This is Wu Bu Wei.

Everyone has seen rivers,

Usually winding and curved,

If the ultimate goal of a river is to flow into the sea,

Then when encountering difficulties and obstacles,

Choosing to go around is also a kind of wisdom, right?

Probably no river would stop flowing just because there’s a big rock ahead, right? I haven’t seen one,

Either it flows to the left,

If the left doesn’t work, then to the right,

If both sides don’t work, it seeps through from below… Anyway, there’s always a way through,

This is Wu Bu Wei.

I’m a person with limited knowledge,

And I come from a rural background with little insight,

But a wise person can see clearly,

The current world’s technological development is astonishing,

Forget about airplanes and rockets,

Just think about smartphones,

Don’t you think that’s a miracle?

Look,

Technology,

Is just using the laws of physics for our benefit, right?

If we follow Wu Wei—meaning lying flat or not forcing things,

Would we still have the prosperity we have today? I think not.

Just like Zhuangzi’s chef Bao Ding,

He never struggles with the structure of the ox,

But follows the natural growth pattern of the ox and easily separates it,

This is Wu Bu Wei.

My cousin raises bonsai trees,

And he told me a principle,

Many people can’t keep trees alive,

Because they impose their subjective will on the tree,

So they fail to nurture it.

For example, a flowering tree,

Many buy it and want it to bloom quickly,

Water it eight times a day if they could.

But my cousin says,

The flower buds consume the most water,

A newly bought tree hasn’t grown roots yet,

So it can’t absorb water,

It can only rely on internal water to sustain the flowers,

Over time,

If energy supply can’t keep up,

And the flower buds volatilize a lot,

The tree will quickly die.

So, how should you care for it? First, prune the flowers.

Isn’t that contrary to many people’s perceptions? But that’s the fact,

I don’t fight against natural laws,

But follow the growth patterns of the tree,

Only then can I achieve twice the result with half the effort.

This principle is actually very simple,

But the biggest challenge isn’t understanding it,

It’s how to apply it practically.

Honestly,

Although I can write an article about it,

In reality, internalizing it is still difficult,

My Taoist practice is shallow,

But,

There’s a long way ahead,

Eat one bite at a time,

Walk step by step,

Stay calm,

Keep steady,

Take it slow.
