According to Peru's Geophysical Institute, a 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck 41 kilometers south of Ica at 12:57 local time on May 19, with a depth of 81 kilometers. The tremors were strongly felt in the capital Lima, lasting more than 20 seconds.
