62% of U.S. Stablecoin Holders Converted Back to USD Due to Merchant Non-Acceptance, April Survey Shows

According to a survey by MNEE Pay and YouGov conducted in April 2026, 62% of U.S. stablecoin holders converted their holdings back to U.S. dollars because merchants did not accept stablecoins. The survey also found that 84% of holders prefer shopping at merchants that accept stablecoins, and 54% hold stablecoins for future consumption needs.

The survey revealed significant generational differences: 88% of cryptocurrency holders aged 18 to 34 hold stablecoins, compared to just 15% among those aged 55 and above. The study surveyed 251 U.S. adults holding any type of cryptocurrency, with 103 participants reporting stablecoin holdings.
