Agricultural Ministry Sets Swine Capacity Thresholds at 103% and 92% to Prevent Production Swings

According to the Agricultural Ministry, the department recently released a revised swine capacity control plan for 2026, establishing two key thresholds for provincial sow herds. When sow inventory exceeds 103% of normal levels, local authorities should implement differentiated policies to guide farms to control production scale and prevent blind expansion. When inventory drops below 92% of normal levels, authorities can provide temporary emergency subsidies to breeding farms and increase credit support with interest subsidies to qualified operations.
