According to Protos, AI shopping agent developer ORO disclosed a breach by suspected North Korean hacking group Sapphire Sleet on July 13, resulting in a loss of approximately $630,000 in cryptocurrency. Attackers compromised a Telegram account to send ORO employees fake Microsoft Teams links, tricking them into installing malicious extensions. After stealing data for nearly a month, the hackers obtained 147,000 Alpha tokens. ORO acknowledged the breach was enabled partly by its own security lapse: due to limited hardware wallet support in the Bittensor protocol, the company temporarily switched to software wallets in violation of its security policy, allowing private keys to be compromised from an infected computer.
