Amazon Cuts AGI Division Jobs, AMZN Stock Falls 1.5% for Second Consecutive Day

According to Reuters and The Wall Street Journal, Amazon reduced staff in its artificial general intelligence division on Wednesday. The company did not disclose the total number of positions eliminated but noted the decision was part of a strategic realignment to focus on high-impact initiatives while maintaining investment in foundational AI capabilities.

Amazon stock declined 1.5%, marking the second consecutive trading session of losses. Affected U.S. employees will receive 90 days of pay and benefits, career outplacement assistance, and severance eligibility.
