According to Business Insider, Amazon is overhauling Alexa+ infrastructure by routing more requests to proprietary AI models and reducing reliance on Anthropic's Claude through caching mechanisms to optimize GPU utilization and cut operational expenses. Internal documents show Alexa+ AWS cloud costs are projected to reach approximately $1.7 billion in 2026, nearly tripling year-over-year and exceeding budget targets by roughly 60 percent. Despite identifying approximately $450 million in potential cost savings, Amazon's internal assessment suggests the business will struggle to meet financial goals. The restructuring aligns with CEO Andy Jassy's public focus on reducing AI inference costs.
