According to Puyidao News and China's Foreign Ministry statement, on June 29, Australia and Vanuatu signed an economic and security agreement banning the establishment of any foreign military bases on the Pacific island nation.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said China will continue conducting practical cooperation with Pacific island nations including Vanuatu based on principles of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit. He stated that relevant countries should cooperate with Pacific island nations in ways that truly benefit regional development and stability, without targeting third parties or engaging in geopolitical manipulation.
