Bank of Korea Raises Rates 25bp, Signals Potential August Hike

According to Societe Generale strategist Kiyong Seong, the Bank of Korea raised its benchmark rate by 25 basis points on July 16, with signals indicating a potential consecutive rate hike in August. Although Governor Rhee Chang-yong's remarks were viewed as hawkish, markets had previously anticipated a more aggressive outcome, such as a 50bp increase.
