Berkshire Hathaway's Cash Pile Hits Record $397.4 Billion in Q1 2026

According to its latest quarterly filing, Berkshire Hathaway's cash and short-term Treasuries reached an all-time high of $397.4 billion in Q1 2026, up from $373 billion at the end of 2025. According to Barchart, the reserve is sufficient to purchase 476 companies currently listed in the S&P 500 outright. Greg Abel, who took over as CEO in the quarter, has begun deploying the capital, including an $8.5 billion acquisition of homebuilder Taylor Morrison and a $31 billion Alphabet stake.
