Bitcoin breaks through the $80,000 mark, MediaTek hits the daily limit and locks, and Taiwan and South Korea stock markets set new highs again

Bitcoin launched an attack suddenly at 9:00 a.m. Taiwan time, breaking through the $80,000 level in one move. As of the time of this report, it topped out at $80,328, the highest since late January this year. Cryptocurrencies rose across the board: Ethereum (ETH) climbed more than 3%, nearing $2,400, while Dogecoin (DOGE) surged more than 5%.

Taiwan stocks officially broke through the 40,000-point threshold. MediaTek (2454) hit the limit-up right at the open and locked there. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) (2330), the “National Treasure Mountain,” reached as high as NT$2,285, also up nearly 7%, driving Taiwan stocks to set another record high.

South Korea’s Kopsi index also rose by nearly 4%, setting a new all-time high.

Benefiting from strong quarterly reports from major tech companies such as Apple Inc., market expectations for the Artificial Intelligence industry have warmed up again. This momentum lifted the MSCI Asia Stocks Index by 1.5%, putting it near pre-war highs; among them, Taiwan and South Korea benchmark indexes, which have higher weightings in technology stocks, both also set new all-time highs.
