According to The Wall Street Journal, BlackRock led a $12 billion debt financing on July 20 to fund Meta Platforms' large-scale data center project in El Paso, Texas. BlackRock and its infrastructure and private credit divisions hold 80% equity stake, while Meta retains 20%. JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley are coordinating the debt financing and are in talks with potential investors to participate in the deal. The funding structure mirrors Meta's prior Louisiana data center project, which totaled $27 billion in private credit financing, a global record. BlackRock invested over $3 billion in that earlier financing round.
