Boehringer Ingelheim Introduces Survodutide, Reducing Visceral Fat by 34% While Preserving Muscle

According to Bloomberg Industry Research analysts, Boehringer Ingelheim is promoting Survodutide, its experimental weight-loss drug, which reduces visceral fat (harmful fat stored deep in the abdomen around organs) by up to 34% while preserving muscle mass. In the highest-dose treatment group, lean mass accounted for no more than 10.8% of total tissue mass loss, and liver fat decreased by over 60%. The company aims to differentiate itself in a market dominated by Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly. The drug could potentially receive approval in 2027.
