CFTC Finalizes Joint Data Standards with 9 U.S. Financial Regulators to Improve Interoperability

According to CFTC announcement, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission has finalized joint data standards in June 2026 under the Financial Data Transparency Act of 2022. The standards involve nine federal regulators, including the Federal Reserve, SEC, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Treasury Department, FDIC, Federal Housing Finance Agency, National Credit Union Administration, and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

The standards establish unified identifiers for entities, geographic locations, dates, and specific products and currencies to enhance interoperability of financial regulatory data across agencies. CFTC Chair Selig stated that inconsistent reporting standards increase compliance costs for market participants without improving regulatory data utilization efficiency.
