China and EU Hold First Trade and Investment Dialogue, Plan Ministerial Meeting in Fall 2026

According to Jin10, China's Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and EU Commission Vice President Maros Sefcovic held the inaugural meeting of the China-EU Trade and Investment Consultation Mechanism yesterday (June 29) in Brussels. The two sides discussed four working tracks: trade and investment balance, export controls, intellectual property, and WTO reform. Officials were authorized to maintain communication on these pillars, with both parties agreeing to convene a ministerial-level meeting again in autumn 2026. China and the EU acknowledged that expanding market access can help balance trade relations and exchanged market access issue lists, committing to further consultations on specific matters. Both sides also noted progress in export control dialogues on critical raw materials and agreed to strengthen information sharing on regulatory frameworks and licensing policies to maintain global supply chain stability.
