China's Foreign Ministry Rejects Japan-Philippines Maritime Delimitation Talks on June 29

According to a statement from China's Foreign Ministry on June 29, China reaffirmed its exclusive economic zone and continental shelf rights in waters east of Taiwan Island. The ministry said Japanese and Philippine attempts to initiate so-called maritime delimitation talks without China's consent violate international law, including the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, and seriously infringe on China's maritime interests. China will not tolerate such actions.
