China Issues Two Mandatory National Standards for Photovoltaic Modules, Effective June 1, 2027

According to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, on May 25, two mandatory national standards for photovoltaic modules were officially released. The standards—"Photovoltaic Module Safety Requirements" and "Photovoltaic Module Nameplate Labeling Requirements"—will take effect on June 1, 2027, after a 12-month transition period.

The first standard specifies electrical, mechanical, fire-safety, and hazardous-substance requirements for photovoltaic modules, including testing methods. The second standard mandates uniform nameplate labeling and electrical performance parameter specifications, requiring actual measured values to deviate no more than specified tolerances or ±2% from rated values. These standards aim to standardize industry competition and advance product quality and safety.
