China Releases Human Gene Data Research Ethics Guidelines on May 25

According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, on May 25, China released the Guidelines on Ethics for Human Gene Data Research to regulate gene data research activities and protect the legitimate rights of research participants. The guidelines mandate strict privacy protection measures, prohibiting data mining or utilization for privacy-invasive purposes. All data processing activities must remain within the scope of informed consent and ethics review approval. For highly sensitive data such as group-specific genetic information, stricter classification, access control, and usage restrictions apply.
