Chinese Foreign Minister Meets Canadian Counterpart in Manila; Bilateral Trade Up 16% in First Half of 2026

According to Xinhua News Agency, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Canadian Foreign Minister Karina Anand in Manila on July 21. Wang Yi highlighted that China-Canada relations have improved steadily this year, with bilateral trade reaching 16% growth in the first half of 2026, including a 23.3% increase in Canadian exports to China. Canadian canola and beef have returned to the Chinese market, while Chinese electric vehicles are entering Canada, with both sides pledging to deepen cooperation on global governance and artificial intelligence.
