According to an announcement from Anthropic’s official developer account @ClaudeDevs on April 28, Claude Code can now send mobile push notifications when a long task is completed or when Claude needs user input, proactively reminding you. The original text is: “Walk away from the terminal, we’ll let you know when it’s done.”
Trigger timing: Long task completed, or user intervention required
Push notifications will be sent in two scenarios:
Long task completed (e.g., after finishing a build, batch processing, or cross-file refactoring)
When Claude needs user input or review (permission request, actions that require confirmation)
In other words, after the user issues a command, they can step away from the terminal to do other things, while the phone receives notifications either when the task is finished or when intervention is required.
Enable conditions: Remote Control is turned on + the setting “Push when Claude decides”
According to Claude Code’s official changelog, the underlying tool for this feature was actually added in version v2.1.110 on April 15 (“Added push notification tool — Claude can send mobile push notifications when Remote Control and ‘Push when Claude decides’ config are enabled”). This time, the ClaudeDevs tweet is a marketing-level announcement to the public.
Two prerequisites for enabling:
Turn on Remote Control (used to connect the mobile/web side with the Claude Code desktop session)
In config, enable “Push when Claude decides” (allows Claude to proactively decide when to send push notifications)
No specific iOS/Android version requirements or subscription plan differences were mentioned.
