CME: Silver Trading Volume Falls 27,743 Contracts, Energy Futures Surge on May 18

According to CME data released on May 19, silver futures trading volume on May 18 declined to 63,818 contracts, down 27,743 from the previous day, while open interest fell to 102,000 contracts. Gold futures trading volume also decreased to 188,390 contracts, but open interest rose to 390,242 contracts, up 10,442.

Energy futures saw increased activity. WTI crude oil trading volume surged to 1,129,202 contracts, up 469,423 from the prior day, though open interest dropped to 2,010,688 contracts. Brent crude oil volume rose to 203,199 contracts, up 86,647, with open interest at 242,743 contracts. Natural gas volume increased to 489,684 contracts.
