Core Scientific Acquires Bitcoin Miner Polaris for $421M, Expands AI Data Center Operations

According to The Block, Core Scientific acquired Polaris DS LLC for approximately $421 million today (May 6), securing a 440-megawatt power contract with Oklahoma Gas & Electric to expand its AI and high-performance computing hosting business. The Polaris facility, located in Oklahoma and spanning 40 acres, is already operational and adjacent to Core's existing Muskogee site. The transaction is expected to close in Q3 2026, subject to regulatory approval. Core is converting bitcoin mining operations across Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, and Oklahoma into high-density data centers to support growing artificial intelligence demand.
