SpaceX announced Thursday that Chun Wang, the Chinese-born Maltese entrepreneur and founder of Bitcoin mining pool F2Pool, has purchased a ticket for the company's two-year interplanetary mission to Mars, which will explore beyond the moon, conduct a Mars flyby, and return to Earth. Wang also bought a ticket for a planned weeklong commercial lunar spaceflight launching before the Mars mission. According to SpaceX, Starship cargo flights to Mars for research and exploratory missions are expected to start no earlier than 2028, with the ultimate goal of establishing a self-sufficient city on Mars requiring over 1 million people and millions of tons of cargo.
